Corporate strategies must be adjusted along with the accelerated evolution of business models and iteration of new technologies. The strategic adjustment triggers transformation of business process and organizational structure, which undoubtedly highlight the importance of human resource management. To build a first-class business, it’s crucial to first establish a first-class human resources management system, only through which can a business achieve a high level of organizational performance and corporate strategic synergy. The value of HR managers for an organization must transcend functional management (such as recruitment, compensation and performance evaluation) and should be embedded in the strategic decision-making level.
Antai College of Economics and Management, Shanghai Jiao Tong University, in collaboration with Darden School of Business, we will launch an additional international module in an effort to provide students a top-level program with a high level of international vision and strategic importance.
Through the five plus one modules, students will be able to:
- Improve strategic thinking
- Understand the business patterns and implementation processes of the marketing, accounting and other departments in an organization, to further understand the characteristics and needs of a counterpart
- Understand the relationship between HR management and organizational strategies to support CEO’s strategy setting and implementation
- Become a specialist in inspiring people, improve the coherence of teams and stimulate organizational innovation
- Become part of a network of China’s top HR executives where professional experiences are shared and exchanged
Opening Module:Team building + Hogan leadership assessment
Duration: 1 day Time: June
Location: Xuhui Campus, Shanghai Jiao Tong University
- Teambuilding: an “ice breaker” will help students get comfortable of the learning environment and establish a communication platform, creating the atmosphere of a learning team.
- Self-assessment with the Hogan Leadership Assessment tool. A professional analyst will help students interpret the assessment results, which will help students effectively discover the key advantages and potentials of their leadership qualities as well as their preferred values.
Module I: Applying Marketing to HR Management

- Marketing is an innovative process present in all aspects of a company’s operations. An understanding of the basic principles of marketing will benefit innovation in HR management and governance.
Module II: Financial Module

- As a partner in developing organizational strategies, HR Executives must be capable of correctly interpreting financial statements and analyzing the health of their companies’ finances.
Module III: Strategic Management

- By understanding corporate strategic management and the development, implementation and evaluation of strategies, HR executives will be equipped with strategic management thinking and be able to resolve real management issues from a strategic level.
Module IV: Business Model Innovation and internet Thinking
Duration: 2 days Time: Sep Lecturer: Prof. JianBiao Ren

- By learning from typical business models and competition patterns of the Internet industry and through case studies of companies in real-world situations, HR executives will be able to understand the changes in HR planning and implementation in the face of corporate strategic transformation.
Module V: Strategic Implementation and Corporate Capacity Building

- A sustained focus and consistent participation are a most fundamental requirement for strategic implementation. However, only one third of CEOs are good at execution.
Module VI: Overseas Module (Optional)
Duration: 7days Time: Oct
Lecturer: Prof. JenneLiedtka, Prof. Ed Hess, Prof. Kristin Befar, among others
Location: Washington DC and Virginia, USA
- The overseas module will be centered on three major themes: 1) leadership development, 2) cross-cultural negotiation and communication techniques, and 3) design thinking and innovative thinking. Students will visit renowned companies and innovative startups in the United States, and listen to talks by, and exchange ideas with, senior executives from the US.

- Group Project presentation + Conferral of certificates
Students who have successfully completed the program will be conferred certificate of the “The Wise Adapts-Transformational Pathway for Chief Human Resource Officers”program issued by Antai college of Economics and Management, Shanghai Jiao Tong University.
